For Kathleen and Wes' wedding celebration, their biggest request was that it be a big party filled with love and joy. Kathleen had found my photos from my blog post on Pablo's 50th Birthday party, and they wanted photos just like that - where you could feel the energy, where when you looked at the images you knew it was a party you wanted to be at. (Her exact words to me were: 'I wish I was at that party!')

Having already gotten married earlier that spring at their home, this event was a chance to celebrate with extended family without too much pomp and circumstance. Fun food and dancing was the priority, and boy did they do it! Their venue - the Atrium at SUNY Maritime College in The Bronx - was simply gorgeous. A wide open space with floor to ceiling windows, extending out to a wrap around balcony with waterfront views that were to die for as golden hour set in.

The party kicked off almost immediately, with Kathleen's dad and aunt busting some moves on the dance floor as the amazing McLean Ave Band did their sound check. As the appetizers were set out and guests began to pour in, the entire room was abuzz with exactly the feeling Kathleen and Wes wanted - a big party filled with love and joy! The live band was such a great touch. With a mix of pop hits and some traditional Irish jigs, I've never seen so many people flock to the dance floor at once!

Possibly the cutest part was that all night Kathleen and Wes would find each other and hold hands, rub each other's backs and just smile. Seeing two people so gleefully in love and surrounded by their favorite people (and partying their hearts out!) gave me such joy..

At the end of the night, when I asked Wes what the best part of married life was, he just looked at me and said 'Everything'.

Love really is amazing.
